Winter break is just around the corner, and we're all looking forward to cozying up with some hot cocoa and soaking in the season. But before we head off, we wanted to share some exciting updates from December. Since our last check-in, students have been hard at work—creating theater productions, writing stories, choreographing dances, and bringing home championships! Keep reading for all the latest news, and be sure to check out a few fun activities happening around Brooklyn this break.
❄️ Holiday Presentations at Dock St. ❄️
Each teaching artist is guiding a group of students through a small project, which they will showcase to our community on the last day of the program before the holiday break. The students have been working hard, and we’re all eager to see the results of their efforts! The holiday presentations will include: a majorette/modern dance medley by Reilly, robot car models from the Robotics Club and Erica, a Dock St. album featuring original songs and beats from the Dock St. BCCP members, produced by Jenna, a mini basketball tournament by Coach Oliver, a Dungeons and Dragons presentation, and a videography project capturing all of the students’ work, along with interviews, by Reilly and Brandon. Our service learners have also done an amazing job with their projects this season—Kayla’s nail care activity was especially popular with our young ladies.
Power of the Pen with Robeson Students 🖋️
This month was filled with exploration. Students at Robeson went on a trip to 826 NYC where they put the pen to paper and participated in a creative writing workshop to create their very own comic books. This looks like so much fun, can we join you on the next trip?? 🤩
