February may have been filled with snow days and school breaks, but our students stayed active, creative, and engaged across all sites. This month, we focused on honoring Black History Month, building new skills, and continuing to create meaningful opportunities for learning, expression, and teamwork.

Dock Street Campus Highlights
Despite the short and snowy month, Dock Street students remained busy and inspired. In recognition of the 100th year of celebrating Black History, students researched and identified 100 influential Black heroes, learning how these individuals shaped history and continue to inspire the future.

Clubs were also in full motion:
Fashion Club began developing original design sketches, turning creativity into wearable concepts.
Sports & Fitness students focused on the importance of conditioning and preparation before stepping onto the field or court.
Self-Care & Cosmetology Club explored nail design techniques and styling modifications.
Robotics Club launched a model home-building project, already designing and crafting clay furniture to bring their vision to life.
Honoring The Legacy
At BCCP, we believe in brightening the future by building pathways for our youth. By studying those who paved the way, students gain a deeper understanding of how history shapes opportunity.
Black Pioneers Who Helped Shape Education
Mary Jackson inspired young scientists by mentoring students and helping them build a wind tunnel for hands-on STEM exploration.
Mary McLeod Bethune was a transformative educator and civil rights leader who founded a school to expand education for Black girls and underserved communities.
Oliver Brown played a key role in challenging school segregation, advocating for equal educational opportunities for all students.

Arts & Athletics Update
Theater students are preparing for their winter production, Myth Understood, debuting March 6th and 7th. The play follows two teens who are transported to Mount Olympus, where Greek gods humorously retell their myths with unexpected twists. This entertaining and educational production showcases students’ creativity and performance skills.

Meanwhile, the CRMS Boys Basketball Team is heading into the playoffs. We are proud of their dedication and wish them continued success on the court.
Robeson Campus
High school students are deep in the filmmaking process, participating in photography workshops to strengthen their visual storytelling. They are learning how contrast, exposure, and lighting influence mood and meaning in film. Students even stepped in as models, demonstrating how self-expression can be communicated through imagery and design.
February reminded us that even in a fast, frozen month, learning never slows down. From celebrating history to building creative futures, our students continue to grow, explore, and shine. Like what youre reading? Be sure to subscribe to all things BCCP for more
