Well, that time of year has come yet again. It seems to sneak up on us so fast every year. The weather is cold, snow has hit the city, and it is officially time for Winter Break.

The weather outside may be frightful, but this article is oh-so-delightful. Before you go, take a moment to dive into our Wintertainment.

Robeson ❄️

BCCP students at Robeson recently went on a fun and inspiring field trip to AbelCine, an audio-visual store located in Industry City at Sunset Park. They just wrapped up the photography portion of their workshop and are getting ready to dive into filmmaking next! While there, the students were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour from producer Alex Swickard, who also let them test out professional cinema lenses. It was an awesome hands-on experience and a great way to kick off their filmmaking journey!

Dock St. 👩‍🍳 🎨

Dock Street had a lively and creative month filled with hands-on learning and joyful moments. Students participated in a variety of interactive projects led by service learners, making each activity both meaningful and enjoyable. Throughout the month, students collaborated on a BCCP mural that will soon be proudly displayed in the office, explored the art of origami, tested their knowledge in a trivia-style Jenga challenge, and showed off their creativity while decorating holiday cupcakes.

The month will conclude with a cheerful holiday celebration this Tuesday, followed by a relaxing holiday movie afternoon. Students who participated in holiday-themed projects—including vision boards, robots, 3D models, a holiday song performance, and the fitness PACER test—will be recognized and rewarded for their effort and enthusiasm.

All students will receive holiday gift bags, with extra special rewards reserved for those who consistently follow community guidelines and bring a positive, can-do attitude to afterschool each day.
